A very Short Hearing Today in the Casey Anthony Case Only over 20 mins

At 10:02 the hearing started no Baez. The court room was so empty it is probaly to do with the severe weather we have been having in central fl for the past 14 hours. Casey Look tired and very anxious for being there today. But she did look back and smile at me. I was talking to Cindy about that Protester Patrica Young and recalling that night when Patrica would not ever go away. She Thank me once again for being there that day and helping search for Caylee. She told me George will not be here today but maybe tomorrow. So I moved over to Caylee's Side and Dave Knechel came in and sat right Next to me. We chat for few and we both did not almost come today because of the weather.
Cheney Mason: Said Good news The good news is, for the most part, I'm advised the state doesn't have objections," defense attorney J. Cheney Mason told Judge Belvin Perry.
Cheney informed the judge that they have voluntarily removed Sharon Cadieux from the list, saying neither side has been able to get cooperation from her; Cadieux went to the Anthony's home in 2008 to protest and George Anthony, Casey's father, pushed her during an altercation.
"All of the rest of the witnesses have been deposed," Cheney said. "With the exception of doctors Danziger and Weitz, who are scheduled for [state] deposition next week."
State prosecutors then had an opportunity to speak, concurring with what Cheney said about witnesses. Prosecutor Jeff Ashton suggested to Judge Perry that any matters involving the aforementioned doctors, who plan to testify about Casey's state of mind, be reset for discussion after they have completed their depositions. This is what Kathy from wftv says:The defense was quite subdued after making some very serious accusations against the judge last week.

In a motion filed by defense attorney Cheney Mason (read it), Chief Judge Belvin Perry was called "biased" and factually and legally wrong in deciding to allow the jury to hear all of Casey's lies to investigators and to her family early on in the case.

Thursday, Mason did not address his accusations during or after court. Other than cutting off Judge Perry at the beginning of the hearing, Mason did not address in any way his accusations that Judge Perry was "disingenuous" and flat-out wrong to allow jurors to hear Casey Anthony lie to investigators and to her family during phone calls and visits with them when she was in jail.

The judge previously rejected defense arguments that Casey was actually in custody and that her parents and brother were acting as agents of investigators, so she should have been told she had a right to remain silent.

Rare for a Casey Anthony hearing, Thursday morning's hearing was over in around 20 minutes.

"The good news is, for the most part, I'm advised the state doesn't have objections," defense attorney J.

Prosecutor Jeff Ashton suggested to Judge Perry that any matters involving the aforementioned doctors, who plan to testify about Casey's state of mind, be reset for discussion after they have completed their depositions.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said he's not surprised by Mason's demeanor in court Thursday.

"What people don't realize is that you file these motions, you make your arguments. Once you get a ruling, you move on. It's not personal, it's business," Sheaffer said.

After court, WFTV tried to ask Mason about his accusations against the judge. Instead, he hid his face behind his umbrella..

Both sides are to be back in court at 9:00am Friday morning to go over several remaining motions. WFTV.com

Patrica Young ohhh my

I would like to say something about this Patrica Young, The woman has no class at all! She and her nasty lover would stay and stalk the Anthony's for hours at their house. They would say awful things to they Anthony's. Like the night when she was harassing George Anthony I was there. I heard her in the back saying I want to kill Casey Anthony. So when she saw george pulled up she walked over their and started scearming baby killer the Anthony's support a baby killer. So Cindy came up in the yard and nailing no tresping signs in the yard. I came up to her and said , hi im Joy and I know Casey Anthony from Cowboys. I was helping doing a live search for Caylee and Equusearch. She said, Joy it's so nice to meet you Im glad not everyone out here screams like this, I laughed. When the yelling got more intense Cindy ask me to walk with her closer to George because this lady Patrica has been stalking them for days in front of the house and want go away.I said yes I will help... So when Patrica was yelling baby killer and stuff about god. I said; did god create Adam and eve or bill and Steve? That shut her up for only a few seconds. Than I told her she was not acting like a loving Christian should if you care about Caylee go help search for her. I told her I just searched over eight hours by a lake with a 7 foot alligator within 3 feet of me. She started to cuss me out. Than George Anthony has had enough of her BS! He warned her 4 times that night to get out of his yard and away from his car. She came at him with a sign and threat in to hit him. George Anthony defended for him self. The woman Patrica young is so insane and needs to get some help! I can't stand her voice and her attitude just sucks too!

James Hataway Trial starts today

I was at the Trial today, I will have my full story on the case later today.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's murder trial could be in jeopardy if proposed legislative funding cuts go through, according to Orange County Clerk of Courts Lydia Gardner.

Gardner said the court won't be able to afford the trial, which would then be canceled, if the proposed 5 percent cut goes through.

Gardner released this statement to WFTV: “Our funding for the Casey Anthony trial is in serious jeopardy at this time. The Florida Senate has proposed a 5 percent cut to our budget in the 4th quarter, just as the Anthony trial is scheduled to begin. I have informed both the Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court as well as Chief Judge Belvin Perry of these dire circumstances. If the Senate proposal goes through, the trial is in jeopardy of being canceled or suspended.”

However, a spokesperson for the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court suggests that talks of continuing the case are "extremely premature."

"The State vs. Casey Anthony trial is moving forward. It has not been continued," said the Chief of Due Process Services, Karen Levey.

Casey's trial is scheduled for May 9.

Could the Orange County Deputies and the FBI botched band on Caylee's hair?

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- New numbers show the case against Casey Anthony will cost the courts more than $360,000, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

Most of that money will cover sequestering the jury. The hotel bill for 12 jurors and eight alternates is expected to cost more than $125,000 and close to $50,000 will go toward meals.

Transportation, security, juror wages, and miscellaneous expenses are expected to cost more than $170,000.

STATE FILES RESPONSE OVER HAIR EVIDENCE IN CASEY CASE

The state filed its response Wednesday to a defense motion trying to keep key evidence about a hair found in Casey Anthony's car trunk out of court.

A hair in the trunk did show signs of decomposition, but the defense says there's not enough "science" to back up that claim.

Prosecutors submitted more than 300 pages of case law to back their claims.

The judge still has to rule on the issue.

DOCUMENT RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT EVIDENCE IN CASEY CASE

A newly released report (read it) shows Casey Anthony’s defense is trying to claim the Orange County medical examiner botched Caylee Anthony's autopsy.

The defense is trying to prove that the duct tape on Caylee's mouth was placed there after Casey was already in jail.

Casey's defense team is working hard to discredit the Orange County medical examiner Dr. Jan Garavalia and her findings of Caylee's autopsy.

“Many have tried to discredit her, few if any have been successful,” said WFTV’s legal analyst Bill Scheaffer.

The defense hired their own expert Werner Spitz, a Michigan forensic pathologist, to perform another autopsy. He questioned the timing of when the duct tape was placed over Caylee's mouth.

“The defense is also trying to attack the integrity of the crime scene and implying that the body was placed there after Casey was in jail, that the duct tape was placed on Caylee after Casey was in jail,” said Scheaffer.

Spitz claimed he didn't find any of Caylee's DNA on the duct tape that was supposed to be attached to her hair.

This statement contradicts the Orange County medical examiner's findings. But Scheaffer said this argument may not be enough to convince a jury.

“I don't believe that this in and of itself is going to be enough to raise reasonable doubt,” he said.

The defense's doctor also said the cause of Caylee's death is undetermined and that there's no scientific evidence it was murder.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Orange County Sheriff's Office is mourning the deaths of two deputies that died within just days of each other.

Homicide detective 48-year-old Michael Erikson collapsed and died Wednesday night. The department was already reeling from the death of 40-year-old Deputy Sebastian Diana over the weekend.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said his deputies are shaken to the core about the deaths. Both men were on the force for more than a decade and were very well-liked and highly respected.

“He was a very neighborly guy, very outgoing, very well respected here within our organization,” said Demings.

On Wednesday, Erickson collapsed while playing racquetball with a neighbor at the YMCA aquatic center off International Drive.

Erickson worked for the sheriff's department for 13 years and was set to testify in the Casey Anthony murder trial. Erickson was the first detective to interview Lee Anthony in 2008 and also interviewed Casey's neighbor, who loaned her a shovel during the time Caylee was missing.

WFTV’s legal analyst Bill Sheaffer says any statements detective Erickson made before his death can be used at trial.

“The state can use his deposition as substantive evidence as though he was there in person,” said Sheaffer.

Just days before Erickson’s death, the sheriff's office lost Diana, who contracted a bacterial infection after giving a 3-month-old mouth-to-mouth resuscitation back in 2006.

The child didn't make it and Diana was sick off and on for the past few years. Family members said his heart finally gave out.

“In many ways the life he was trying to save may have caused his own life,” said Demings. “That's what law enforcement officers do. They put themselves in harm's way every day and that's what it's all about.”

Because he died in the line of duty, Diana’s family will receive a portion of his pay and benefits for life.

Both men leave behind a wife and children.
